During the slide presentation in the morning I will help participants understand the fundamentals of power generation and how project revenue sources, plant operating costs, financing costs and tax considerations impact a project evaluation.
In the afternoon participants will be provided with four excel models for a wind, simple cycle gas turbine, a combined cycle plant and a coal plant. Participants will complete portions of the models and run scenarios on these models. The objective of this portion of the course is to help participants understand how to model and evaluate the economics of a plant.
In-house courses have been completed for ATCO Power, TransAlta, EPCOR, ENMAX, the B.C. Government, the Ontario Power Authority and the Ontario Energy Board. Other course participants have included ATCO Power, Alberta Energy, Alberta Electric System Operator, BC Hydro, Balancing Pool, Calpine Canada, Encana Corp, ENMAX, Luscar Ltd, Market Surveillance Administrator, RBC Capital Markets, TransCanada Power, etc.
